Latest Addition To The Family...

Well, not exactly in my family. More like next door's family. Although I have a newborn nephew who's hair-cutting ceremony happens this Sunday, I have yet to see him. But this little guy, Lucas Caliph-Umar Tacchi, is the most gorgeous looking thing I have ever seen. For now. When my time comes around, I'll call my babies the most gorgeous looking things.

Welcomed into the world on 17 November 2007 to the proud parents of Sis Aisha and Brother Jean-Marc Tacchi, the lucky little tyke was born in grandeur at Raffles Hospital after 12 hours of labor.

He is of mixed heritage: Arab and Pakistan from his mother's side of the tree and Swiss-French and Swiss-Italian on his dad's.

I swear, when he grows up he's going to be breaking a lot of hearts. A lot.

I love babies. I love everything about them. I love the flushed pinkness of their skin and its texture, I love their sepet but swollen eyes and they look like they're squinting up at us with that befuddled look on their faces like as though we're aliens, I love the little squeaks they make and I love how their faces get scrunched up when they're ready to cry. I even love the way their poop comes out. It's the most fascinating thing.

But most of all I love their scent. Their baby scent is like no other. It's hard to explain how they smell, but its kinda like milk, vanilla and baby talc all rolled into one formula. Makes you just want to bury ur nose into the crook of their fleshy necks and take a small nip --just a small one, mind you-- off their baby fat.

Yum.

They're THAT good enough to eat. They're like little hors d'oeuvres, or pigs-in-a-blankets that are wrapped tightly as though they were sausages bundled in croissants.

Yum.

Anywich, Lucas is a Biblical name but there is an Islamic version for it and its called Luqman. For the life of me, I can't recall the meaning of Lucas but Caliph means Leader and Umar was one of Prophet Muhammad's best friends. The most fiercest, in fact. He used to wield a sword like nobody's business during his day.

Owells. Can't wait to have one of those bundles. Or eight, for that matter.
