The New Face Of Mediacorp...

Action only lahh...

This is my first day at work and although I am barely holding it together to keep my eyelids open, the environment is what keeps me going. The employees here just love to gossip. It is such a warm and inviting place that as cold as I am here, I still feel a certain tingling warmth coarsing through me as I interact with these people. They even call one of their guys the Karang Guni Man whose real name is Kee Ming. Dawn introed me to him and his humble desk and I could see for myself why they called him that.

He is an Arsey fan and has posters of them pinned in his cubicle. He even has a pinup of Cesc Fabregas jumping up and squashing Ruud van Nistelrooy. MY Ruud van Nistelrooy. When he was still playing for Man Utd, that is. KGM is their resident blurr sotong, she said. And he even won an award for it during their annual dinner.

Joker.

As I type Dawn and her colleague Karen are on a plot to saboh KGM. They took strips of paper from the paper shredder machine and somewhat 'decorated' his whole cubicle and stuck the strips at every strategic place. It was in his fan, on his chair as a form of cushion, on his keyboard and they even shaped the papers into a bow tie to stick it on the face that was on one of his big posters. But the ones that stood out were the strips stuck to those on his Arsenal pinups.

Thank God Ruud came off unharmed. They made Cesc and Jens look like they sprouted a bad case of dreadlocks from their heads but between the both of them I think Jens got the worse out of the whole shebang because they even pasted a clump of paper THERE as in THERE there so it appeared as though he was growing a bush THERE.

For the next few weeks, it'll be just me and the guy whose name I never caught as interns. Nick would be joining us in November. Hopefully. Because I decided not to tell them that Nick and I were partners-in-crime, when Dawn (the one I report to) prompted to ask me, "Handsome or not!?!". Hmmm...now, doesn't that line sound familiar.

"I don't know," I mumbled noncommittedly. "I'm not too sure if he really is my classmate. Heh."
"Hah!! Don't worry, there's no handsome people around here."

If only she could hear the shatter of glass that was my fragile heart.

And get this. Our office is right beside Mediacorp Radio and though I've been through the halls countless of times, I couldn't resist being the innocent lamb asking what was on the other side of the glass doors. Dawn gladly obliged me and we breezed past Glenn Ong and The Flying Dutchman doing their thang as well as Daniel Ong, Mr. Young and Desiree Lai kicking it up on their version of the Morning Show.

Farhana, one of the 3 other Malay females I had lunch with today informed me that if I wanted to have a peek at the DJs, they were on the 3rd floor. I silently kept that bit of information for future stalking references.

Not that I have seen many of them lurking around. Besides, I have better things to do than play paparazzi with the silly radio jocks.

Laterz...
Lenny
