I even experimented a Zinedine Zidane-style headbutt on my sister, Fatin, just for kicks. Although, I know I don't possess the same strength & mental problem Zidane has. But, she ended up with a slightly sore nose & a stomachache later. *laughs evilly* I wonder if Marco Materazzi went through the same thing. Of course, I was tempted to do an Henry on her by shoving a bottle of vile smelling salts under her nose but I thought, why put the girl through more trauma??
Anywayz, before the whole hype over the final match of this year's FIFA World Cup in Germany even began, I temporarily pledged myself to my own country -for the time being, since I had to be IN the moment- and went for this year's National Day Parada preview at the Kallang Stadium.
As we all know, this would be the last year that the parade would be held here due to the ongoing renovations of our good stadium. You can't very well hold a solemn GOH parade where the president will be present with grunts & groans of a bulldozer providing background music, can you??
Furthermore, I hadn't attended the nation's festivities since that one day when I was in Griffiths. I was in Primary Five. So, when Fala gave me that last-of-last minute call with 18 tickets to spare, I agreed to humor myself to see what the organizers had cooked up this year & whether or not the whole shindig would be as yawn-inducing as I thought it would be.
Well, I was half-impressed with this year's efforts. There were live band performances by John Molina as well as Electrico & you can actually feel that this year's show was going to be more upbeat than its predecessors. Even the parade, where the uniformed people would staunchly march forward to the center square, was modified into a very light jog to the beat of the music played by the Police Academy's military band.
The fireworks weren't overwhelming, but was instead a teaser of what was to come on the actual day. Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves & I screamed myself hoarse. I mean, why wouldn't we?? We were seated at the perfect spot; the spot where the sun set first & therefore we had the immense pleasure of not ending up with scorched backs. Our seats were near to where the hosts of the show came zipping downwards a la flying fox. The parachuters also flew down near our area & we had a clear view of the fireworks, minus the umbrellas.
Anywayz, here are a few pics -yeaaaaaaaaaaaah!! Finally, after SUCH a loooong time, I see pictures of myself instead of pictures of all my boyfriends!!- taken from Fala's high-resolution camera.
One of the first few pics taken of me & my happy Clap-O sticks with Fala lurking behind to spoil the shot.

Fala takes a shot of half the stadium. Dear Stadium-builders, we seriously hope you refurbish the seats here & install individual plastic seats because we all of us reached home, our butts felt just as hard as the current wooden ones that look like picnic benches instead of normal stadium seats.
Caught in the patriotic moment.

De Yi Secondary School's military band performance depicting the 4 races & their places of worship. Each place of worship is followed by a themed ethnic-type melody.
The parade starts as the Army takes the shape of the year 2006.
I couldn't resist snapping a shot of my newly re-found pendant as I was cleaning my room one day.
Me, Nur & our newfound friend behind us.
Kissing Comrades.
Last shot of the night. Laterz...
