Yesterday, the sweet supervisor Chin Hwang gave me a pleasant surprise. He was just briefing me on my current task & on a blooper I'd made then 2 minutes later, he reappeared behind me & asked me a question I never thought in a century he'd ask.
"Uhhh...do you listen to Backstreet Boys?" I glanced over my shoulder at him, my eyes widening. What the heck??, I thought to myself. What did I do this time??
"Uhhh...yeeeeaaaah," I replied, albeit reluctantly. Heh, it isn't everyday when someone who's turning 19 in a day or two still listens to Backstreet Boys & actually admits it to her supervisor.
"Okay, nahh. This is for you." And he thrust a copy of their latest album Never Gone onto my desk. I couldn't help but squeal a little then say a thank-you as he ambled off & then, I started laughing to myself. Boy, I wished Daph was there to witness what just happened. I stared at the still-in-warped-packaging disc; it was a double CD, the second disc being a DVD consisting of footage from the making of their first single, Incomplete as well as a picture gallery of some sort & a bonus track.
And it had a sticker pasted on it which read: MTV Artist Of The Month. Ahahahakz!! Chin Hwang, thank you so much. I really didn't expect anything like this; I knew that SingTel had a Backstreet Boys contest last month or something. Of which Mok Wan, who saw the online banner & called them L.A Boys instead *rolls eyes*. And I felt like 14 years old all over again upon receiving it. Ahahahakz!! Early birthday present from the boss himself?? Nehhh...I wouldn't count on it. I guess he must've won it but didn't know what to do with it because he's not in 'that generation' & the only person he saw or knew of that was in 'that generation' was me. Ahahahakz...what a day!!
And then at night, while I was chatting with Luis on MSN, we had unexpected visitors visit our home. They were Dad's cousin & her daughter, well technically speaking, my aunt & second cousin who came to send over their wedding invitation. Their daughter, Kak Min, was getting married soon & this was their first ever visit to our house.
Though I saw much of Aunt Dalita through family gatherings & weddings, what I remembered of Kak Min wasn't much except that her younger brother was the same age as me. But what Kak Min DID remember of me -she only knew there was me; she didn't recognize the rest of my sisters- was that as I child, I had the curliest hair she'd ever seen. And that I couldn't speak Malay. Heh. According to Kak Min, she remembered that the only time she ever spoke to me when I was about 5 years old, the whole conversation was in English & I didn't know how to speak Malay. Which kinda flabbergasted her & I think, all the other relatives. I guess during that period, it was kinda weird for a kid who couldn't speak her Mother Tongue because at my age, all normal kids spoke their Mother Tongue. Heh. Weird me.
Well, that curly-hair girl who couldn't speak Malay is all grown up & she STILL can't speak proper Malay to save her own soul. Quite funnily how people remember you as. I'm the girl-with-curly-hair-who-can't-speak-Malay. I wonder how my other sisters get remembered by. Of course no question, Nini would be because of her cuteness & pau-like chubby cheeks. Actually quite a replice of me when I was the same age but she's darker than I was & am. Ahahahakz...
Okay, soccer news coming up. England got a 4-1 thrashing byDenmark; very sad, I'm sure. Holland drew with Germany 2-2- (see, I told you so!!), which was kinda expected. Spain beat Uruguay 2-0 with an own goal & a penalty well taken by Vicente Rodriguez. Nope, no Raul OR Morientes OR Torres goals in that match. Portugal beat Egypt 2-0, haha. Ohh, and France did a great job at beating Ivory Coast 3-0 with goals coming in from William Gallas, the great man himself Zinedine Zidane & one of Pepsi's new faces, Thierry Henry. Well, I don't support France so much like Jan or the other French Fries do, but I don't like Didier Drogba more. So, great job by Les Bleus. I'm sure the Fries were bursting with joy after seeing their national team win by quite a margin.
By the way, Luis, you played during the game as a substitute for Joaquin after he played for 59 minutes. Quite a handsome fellow, not that I'm interested. And I was substituted by Sergio (whoever the guy is) in the 2nd half so we didn't to play together for this match but it's okay. Mori also came in on the second half, replacing pretty-boy Torres. Ahahahakz!! And as usual, Pepe was fantastic. No wonder Rafa deemed him as the 'best goalkeeper in Spain'. No, I'm not KK-ing now. This one is real. Ahahahahkz!!
Articles coming your way in the next entry or so, see if I'm not to lazy to cut & paste online. See this page for more updates.
Ohh, and yesss!! Meeting Luis just before she goes off to her Asian Tour of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. More promoting for Liverpool, I guess. Just be back before the game with Sunderland this coming weekend all right?? Noooo, you're missing it!! You'll only be back on Monday!! Shiiiiiiit...Oh well, I guess someone else will have to take your place, then!! Ahahahakz!!
Yeah, and one more day to Phat Nite. Go figure...
Laterz...
