Went out with Auntie Jane for lunch today, one of my favorite aunts who took care of me when Mom & Dad were still working & I was still an only child. She's not exactly my Mom's sister, she's my Mom's cousin. But because I was firstborn in the entire family & everyone hadn't yet gotten married & have their own children, I was taken care by everyone.
And that included Mom's cousins, aunts, uncles, my own grandmother & other grand-aunts.
Auntie Jane is a primary school teacher who drives a Honda CRV, has no children, isn't married, is the most pickiest woman I've ever known & is kinda richie rich. Well, when you're all those things above, what's not to be rich??
Anywayz, Auntie Jane had promised me a treat which I gladly accepted & went with her for lunch. We exchanged stories about our daily doings; apparently her's was far more exciting than mine, but never mind. Along the way, my aunt included healthy dosages of insults & curses directed to pesky drivers who drove recklessly & didn't give a whit about consideration. Well said, considering when she first got her driver's license, I was the butt of her driving, especially the very first time we went out to Parkway Parade & she had trouble going up to the multi-storey parking lots. I was nearly traumatized by that incident.
We went to Suria Grill first and sadly found out that they only opened at night. Before that, my aunt had to be choosy about her parking space & I wondered why she hadn't ventured out in front in the first place. So we went over to City Plaza, a place where my aunt swore by steaks. She claims to know the man there & was a frequent goer. Ooookay, I said. I wasn't picky. I knew she loved western food & I was up for anything. Mom only cooked porridge today. So sad.
Off we went to City Plaza where the Pelangi Food House awaited us. It was a ghost-town, literally. We were the only ones there, with the inclusion of this rowdy Indo-Chinese family who's Mom was noisier than her own children. Sheeesh.
I had Lasagna Rosso while Auntie Jane had Garlic Steak. I nearly couldn't finish my lasagna; it was filled to the brim & fat-filled with cheese & thick slices of lasagna pasta. Yummmmmmmmy. Yeah, yeah, I know. Fattening, in the words of Art but, hell!! It was the cheapest deal on the menu I could find & I didn't want to look like as if I was a glutton.
Dropped by Joo Chiat Complex since my aunt wanted to buy some scarves of something & nowhere else had it in stock so we spent our time awhile there. Even though our outing was kinda short & didn't reach the night, I had fun 'coz it had been awhile since I saw my favorite aunt. It didn't matter even if she didn't give me a treat. As long as we kept in touch, it was good enough.
Aww man, I can still taste that lasagna in my mouth...Yum, yum. Would kill for another platte rof those or maybe a plate of fajitas or enchilladas. MmmMmm...
Laterz...
