YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!

Xabi scored two super-fantastic goals from long-range!! Superb skills by the passmaster himself!! *SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMSSS!!*

And to think that I was nodding off to sleep because Liverpool were down 3-1 against Luton Town. Not surprisingly, I found the game slightly bland & was kinda rooting for Luton Town whom actually did a great job splitting Liverpool's defences.

I watched the match together with Bunny, only that we talked during the second half because I had to wait for Bunny's mom to fall asleep. Which she took AGES to do it. My fingers were just itching like crazy to dial her already-memorized number.

Just as I was nodding off, I was the nicely-muscled figure of Alonso with the ball at his feet delivering a long-range kick that, I don't know, was supposed to be a cross?? A go at goal?? Whatever it was, it wickedly dipped into goal & that was enough to make my eyes pop. What the heck was that boy doing?? Was that really a goal from XABI ALONSO!!??

Holy crap. Even HE couldn't believe he scored a goal as he did his flying man trademark thing & jumped into the air, minus the thumb-sucking action favored by his fellow Spaniard partner-in-crime, Luis Garcia, who was sadly absent from the scene. Luis would've been soooo proud. The commentator even commented something like, "Remember the Champions League final?" referring to the rebounded goal Alonso had scored.

The first goal came from Steven Gerrard whom, I found rather arrogant in celebrating his goal. He did it Thierry Henry style, with much aplomb. I mean, come on!! You just bloody scored a goal, give some reaction!!

Ahhh, but who cares about Gerrard?? I guess to him, scoring goals is so routine that he's probably thinking, what the heck do I need to celebrate about?? Let's just leave him alone, lahh.

Luton Town struck thrice before finally getting a reaction from the Liverpool players. Sinama-Pongolle, who was brought on as a substitute, also netted a brace & that was when I bloody put down that phone on Bunny. Of course, I instantly called her back & we both squealed like a couple of rabbits on Prozac.

And we didn't hang up on each other after that. So, we both saw Sinama-Pongolle's second goal & Liverpool's fourth, which came as a headed cross flicked by Steve Finnan. Liverpool's goal that totally killed any chances of a Luton revival came again, in the form on Xabi when he took on the goalie who came way off his position to help in the attack. Like, total wrong move, dude.

I mean, it might work in some situations but unfortunately, it didn't work for this one. Alonso evaded the goalie to shoot in a fluke goal despite being screamed at by Gerrard who so badly wanted Xabi to pass to him. Greedy sia, this Gerrard.

Anywayz, this time Xabi himself knew it was a tyco goal; he celebrated by sticking out his tongue. Like, duhh. Goalie out of line, defenders scampered here & there; when you're handed a golden ticket like that, you take it.

And ooooh, I didn't know Xabi has quite a long tongue. Heeeeeeeeeee. Am I turned on?? Hell, yeah.

See, players think that Xabi doesn't possess any real threat to them, but here's where they're wrong. Never underestimate a holding midfielder.

In defence to Luton Town, I think they did a great job, especially since they were up against the Champions of Europe. The fact that they managed to score not only twice, but thrice is a feat itself. Again, a lesson learnt. Never underestimate small clubs.

They may be small, but they're mighty. And home crowds do so HATE big shot clubs. Everytime a big-club player touches the ball, they boo & everytime that player loses the ball, they cheer. I'd do that too if I were a small club supporter.

All in all, it was a good game, despite the lacklustre first-half performace. Entertainment provided by a certain smart-aleck who goes by the name Xabier Olano Alonso. *gives standing ovation*

Laterz...
