Hiking The Trails - Day 2 - HSBC TreeTop Walk @ MacRitchie Reservoir

This was a much longer walk than the first trail we went to at Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve. If we thought those were hell on our feet, huh, we were damn wrong. It didn't prepare us for the fact that this hike spanned for more than 5km from the carpark. And bloody hell, we were misleaded by the signs posted along the way.

And not only did we have to hike that long stretch of trail, it was covered with slopes, rocks & all that normal trekking stuff that you might find while trekking. Not that I was bothered by that. Frankly speaking, I would rather hike 10km than go shopping. For real. In the end, I can only conclude for myself that I got more tired shopping than walking up & down little hills, wooden steps & rocky walkways.

But then again, how would I know that I had a mild fear of heights!!?? It was only when I took my first step on the bridge & just happened to look down that I got my first taste of nausea. Just take a look at those pics depicting my journey through the MacRitchie rainforest.

First pic of the day!! See that little bugger on that tree branch??

A gnarled tree trunk...think skin disease.

Uncle Ahmad said these steps might have been part of a house during the Japanese occupation.

KNN!! We've still got 1.5km more to go...This had better be a good payoff albeit it being free of charge.

When the journey to your destination is long & the scenery around is impeccable, what do you do?? Take pics of flowers, lahh!!
The lists of don'ts associated with the National Parks Board of Singapore. This wasn't even the halfway point.

And finally, after much leg exercise, we arrive at the Ranger Station for a quick toilet break & a sip of much needed water. Uncle Rahman said I looked like a tourist & adequately asked where I was from. I replied, Spain. He was from Ulu Kelantan. *snerks*

So, which way do we go from here?? So many choices, only one is correct.

Some unknown plant bearing unknown fruit that will bloom into unknown flowers.

Welcome to the HSBC TreeTop Walk where Daddy is reading the stats of this reknowned glory. I was pretty much okay at first. Really. Until I saw that sign just below this picture.

KNNBCB!! No choice because I was pushed by Daddy not to be a fat chicken. My reaction?? Check the next picture.

I made the mistake of looking down. Mommy still had time to snap a horrific shot of me. So, now the world knows that Lenny GodGilla Xabs is afraid of heights. Pretty much.

The bridge from where I was standing. Somehow I managed to snuggle myself between Daddy & Mommy while my other brat sisters had moved on happily in front.

Mommy is horribly sadistic because she likes to see me suffer in agony. Uncle Ahmad said I looked like death warmed over. I couldn't care less other than getting off the bridge ASAP.

The view from the top, taken by shaking hands.

Baby hawks sitting atop the barren branches.

On the way back to the Ranger Station, we came across a couple of signs that were a little too irresistable NOT to take.

We thought of stopping by for lunch at this little hut but then we saw that little guy up there & quickly changed our minds.

Stage 1 of fluttering butterfly wings; he's a little shy, you see...

Come on, buddy. Open up a little bit more...

There we go!! Ohh, you do not know how long that took me!!

Then, off to Mount Faber...

And last but no least, dinner at Pulau Bukom, where Daddy works.

After that very, very filling dinner, we all went home stuffed to the brim. Well yeah, Daddy ordered enough to feed an army & fortunately all the plates were wiped clean. Hey, not by me, okay!!

Laterz...
Lenny GodGilla Xabs
