Turned Into A Damned Pumpkin...

I am no Cinderella but I did get turned into a pumpkin when I reached home 20 minutes after midnight last night.

Dad just asked a few questions but Mom ragged on about my irresponsibilities & tendencies to only want to have fun. I guess I deserved it. It was the first time I'd broke the curfew of coming home later than midnight. The last few times, I'd managed to shimmy into the house before I could be downsized into a pumpkin but no such luck yesterday.

I was out with the GB Family for a movie, The Longest Yard which thereafter, Art, Jan & Such would proceed to Club Momo where our mutual friend Abu, was in the organizing committee for a party held there. Chippy, Mada & I had declined to go since I had to work the next. We had missed the timeslot for the 7.00pm movie thanks to some latecomers *glares* & had to settle for the 9.35pm slot. The movie ended about 2 hours later & I missed my last train home.

Damn, I had to burn a hole in my wallet to fork out fifteen bucks for the cab ride home. Thank God Mada was there to accompany me to the taxi stand, risking his last train. Thanks, dude. Really sorry if I made you miss your last train.

Anywayz, I should really cut down on going out so much. Even though we meet only once a week, that's quite frequent in my Mom's book of rules. Mom doesn't really approve of my friendship with the GB Family, claiming that ever since I've become friends with them I was beginning to get wilder. Don't know what's her definition of 'wild', though. But putting that aside, I guess it's high time I took a break from the 'fast' lane -if ever my life was pivoting towards it.

Okaylahh, grounded then grounded lahh.

I was also beginning to think it was a bit strange for my parents to hold out a longer-than-usual leash on me. Well, at least getting shot down to a pumpkin kept me in check. Sure, who likes to get reprimanded by their parents?? Especially at this age. But that's just part of growing up, I guess. Just accept whatever they have to say & let it pass.

Because, who'll be the ones nagging at you once they're gone?? Who'll be the ones steering you back to the right path when you've occassionally gone off-course?? I think even as we grow into real adults, we'll still be needing our parents. No doubt about it. Not to say that we're dependent on them for the rest of our lives, but sometimes when you need an anchor or a harbor away from whatever's bothering you, parents are the safest place to hide. But that's just my opinion.

When they're right, they're right. Most of the time.

Anywayz, the movie was hilarious. As usual; what can you expect from Adam Sandler?? The Longest Yard was funny from almost the beginning to the end, filled with the orthodox Sandler humor. The only 'twist' of the story was the murder of Caretaker, played by Chris Tucker. Other than that, the movie was as predictable as apple pie. Nonetheless, I had a bucket of laughs accompanied by good food & great friends.

Oh, and by the way Daph, this should interest you. Silly Art pronounced Xabi as 'Zavi'. Whahahahakz!!! What a hoot!!

Laterz...
